Alfa Romeo has officially announced what's been all but a foregone conclusion: There will indeed be a convertible variant of its heralded 8C Competizione coupe. The announcement came at a New York presentation today, much to the joy of those who were smitten with the 2005 8C Spider Concept (pictured).
Dubbed the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, a premium of approximately 20,000 euros is likely to be added to the coupe's 165,000 euro price tag when the convertible goes on sale worldwide in 2009. The 450-horsepower 8C Competizione coupe is currently on sale in Europe and is expected to hit U.S. shores in mid-2008.
