Novo Vectra europeu - Opel apresenta oficialmente o novo sedan Insignia 2009.





A Opel, montadora européia ligada à General Motors, apresentou oficialmente o novo sedan Insignia 2009, sucessor do Vectra Europeu. A apresentação ao público será realizada no Salão do Automóvel de Londres, que acontece em julho.
O Insignia incorpora uma nova identidade visual da Opel, baseada no protótipo GTC, trazendo linhas mais leves e conservadoras do que as dos modelos anteriores. Os ângulos e recortes foram substituídos por contornos mais arredondados. Seu perfil é esportivo, com teto baixo de caída suave em direção a curta e alta traseira, que possui um aerofólio incorporado à tampa do porta-malas.
O novo Insignia terá duas opções de carroceria, de quatro ou cinco portas. A versão de cinco portas tem a tampa do porta-malas com vidro. Mede 4,83 metros de comprimentos, 22 cm a mais do que o Vectra europeu, tem 1,85 m de altura, 1,48 de altura e uma distância entreeixos
de 2,73 m. O porta-malas tem capacidade para 500 litros de bagagem.
A Opel informa que o novo Insignia contará com sete opções de motorização. As opções a gasolina são quatro, partindo do menor com quatro cilindros, 1.6 litros e 115 cavalos de potência e até o maior, um V6 de 2.8 litros com 260 cavalos de potência. O motor turbodiesel é novo, disponível nas opções de quatro cilindros 2.0 com potências que variam entre 110 ou 160 cavalos.
O modelo será comercializado com câmbio automático ou manual, sempre com seis marchas. A suspensão conta com amortecedores de dureza variável. O sistema, batizado FlexRide, trabalha em conjunto com o controle de estabilidadese adapta às condições do piso, permitindo selecionar funcionamento mais adequado a uma determinada situação. Os faróis direcionais com nove opções de ajustes, equanto a iluminação diurna fica a cargo de LEDs.

Opel Meriva




A Opel, divisão da General Motors na Europa, divulgou fotos do protótipo Meriva Concept que será apresentado no Salão do Automóvel de Genebra. O protótipo deve inspirar a próxima geração da minivan Meriva.
No protótipo Meriva Concept, os faróis recebem um desenho com linhas bastante ousadas, com clara inspiração nas linhas do Corsa europeu. Na parte traseira, o desenho também é bastante moderno com lanternas mais arrojadas, que invadem a tampa traseira.

Segundo a montadora, o principal destaque da nova Meriva é a flexibilidade, aliada a aparência bem mais moderna e esportiva, com a dianteira mais saliente e teto de vidro. O novo modelo deve ser vendido nas opções com motores 1.3 e 1.7 a diesel e 1.6 a gasolina.
Mas o que mais chama a atenção no protótipo Meriva Concept são as portas traseiras, que abrem ao contrário para facilitar a entrada, batizada de FlexDoors.
A Meriva vendida na Europa tem o desenho idêntico à Meriva vendida aqui no Brasil. Uma nova geração da Meriva na Europa, possivelmente, pode também atualizar a Meriva comercializada por aqui. Mesmo para a Europa, a versão final de produção não deve ser como o protótipo, mas o visual pode ser semelhante.

Tata Nano



A revista Exame, em sua edição de 03/04/2008, publicou uma reportagem em que afirma que Ratan Tata estaria em negociações adiantadas com a Fiat para produzir o Tata Nano na Argentina no 2º semestre deste ano e importá-lo logo em seguida para o Brasil.
Segundo a matéria da Revista Época, Ratan Tata pretende investir 15 bilhões de dólares no Brasil. Para a fabricação de veículos, as negociações com a Fiat já estariam em estado avançado. Com a parceira, a Fiat fabricaria o Tato Nano em sua fábrica de Córdoba, na Argentina, já no segundo semestre deste ano e de lá exportaria para o Brasil e para o restante da América Latina.
Ainda segundo a revista, a Iveco, divisão de caminhões da montadora italiana, irá fabricar no Brasil a picape média Safari, um dos modelos mais vendidos na Índia. A produção seria n
a fábrica da Iveco localizado no município de Sete Lagoas, em Minas Gerais.
Justificando a matéria, a revista informa que alguns executivos da Fiat já estão na matriz da Tata Motors acertando detalhes da produção. Outra informação é que no ano passado, o consulado da Índia em Minas Gerais emitiu mais de dez vistos para funcionários da Tata.
Oficialmente, a Fiat nega o acordo com a Tata Motors. Como as empresas não confirmam oficialmente, o preço do Tato Nano no Brasil também é desconhecido. Mas e você, acha que o carro mais barato do mundo vem mesmo para o Brasil?

nissan 350z.




A small team of Nissan development engineers working in their spare time have transformed a 350Z into a highly tuned ‘Saturday Special’. Called the GT-S, the supercharged super coupé is a performance-focused version of Nissan’s acclaimed ‘Z-‘car’ and is designed to appeal to enthusiastic 350Z owners who simply want more.
Its first public outing will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (7-9 July) where it will join other exotic road cars in the Supercar Paddock and on the famous hillclimb course.
This will be the fourth year in succession Nissan’s 350Z has starred at the Festival… and each year the Z taking part has become more extreme.
In 2004, Nissan’s Communications department, headed by Communications Director Wayne Bruce, had a standard road car modified with parts from Nissan’s after market performance arm NISMO and registered the car with the number GB53 ZZZ.
Last year a 350Z NISMO GT was imported for the Festival, but for 2006 Bruce decided to continue the Z/Goodwood story with a special version built in-house and in the UK. He turned to Jerry Hardcastle, Director of Customer Oriented Engineering at Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, for help. Together they kick-started the GT-S project: fittingly, the finished car will wear that GB53 ZZZ registration number.
Although boasting a power hike and a substantially modified chassis, the GT-S is far from being a stripped out racing car with a rock hard ride and a peaky power delivery.
Bruce says: "The GT-S has been created as a real car not an ornament.
"We wanted to build a ‘Club Special’ that could still be used to commute to work during the week but would provide added thrills at the weekend: a weekday workhorse and a weekend warrior in one distinctive package."
The project’s technical leader Steve Robbins – who during the week is a senior engineer in the new vehicle evaluation team at NTCE – gathered together half a dozen like-minded enthusiasts to work on the project.
Working after hours and at the weekend, the team members came from within NTCE and also from outside suppliers and was known internally as the S-Club Seven…
The principal changes made to turn the 350Z into the GT-S centre on its engine and chassis. Using a supercharger installation from Swiss manufacturers Novidem, power has increased by more than 25 per cent from 300hp to 382hp, while torque rises from 353 Nm to a heady 425Nm.
Performance gains are expected to include a one second cut in the benchmark 0-60mph time (5.8 seconds for the standard 350Z) with 2.5 seconds slashed from the 0-100mph time.
And it sounds better, too, thanks to an electronically controlled by-pass valve that enriches the exhaust note at a pre-determined engine speed.
NTCE engineers – the very men who tuned the original 350Z to suit European roads and our higher speeds – have undertaken the suspension changes. Working closely with specialists from Bilstein, the changes concentrate on optimising road performance, with improvements in both handling ability and ride comfort… particularly on British ‘B’ roads. Wider wheels and tyres complete the chassis alterations.
A wind tunnel developed body/aero kit from German firm Strosek not only gives

the all-black GT-S a distinctive look, but also improves the 350Z’s aerodynamic performance with increased front and rear downforce at speed. The package is completed by a NVH pack which makes the GT-S even more civilised than the standard 350Z.
Steve Robbins said: "We could have produced a balls-out racer with huge power outputs and very little suspension movement. But while this would have created a superb racer, it would have been virtually unusable on the road. Instead we approached the GT-S from an engineering stand-point with a view to creating a 350Z that provides more of everything… performance, handling, looks, comfort and excitement.
"We also looked at the possible marketing potential of such a project and have designed the improvements as individual ‘packs’ – an engine pack, a suspension pack, aero pack and so on – and kept a close eye on costs."
Although Nissan is saying nothing officially about a possible production, insiders point to its appearance at Goodwood as a sign the company is giving the GT-S concept serious consideration.

2008 BMW M3 Coupe .

Volvo Car Corporation recently released the first official images of the XC60 Concept that will be unveiled at the upcoming North American International Auto Show. Scheduled to be shown to the world on the 7th of January 2007, the XC60 Concept looks towards Volvo's future on two significant fronts: it offers the world a sneak preview of the next XC model to come from Volvo Cars and it reveals several design elements that will be part of future Volvos.Volvo Cars Design Director Steve Mattin and his team have designed the XC60 Concept while keeping their eyes firmly focused on one clear goal. "In recent years we have successfully emphasized the Scandinavian characteristics that base prestige on timeless, functional elegance. Now we're elevating our design DNA to an entirely new level by literally pumping up our cars' visual volume," says Mattin. "With more expressive, emotive shapes, it will be a magnet for the viewer's eyes. If a Volvo is recognisable from 100 feet away today, I want to get to the point where you will instantly spot it from twice that distance in the future."From the design viewpoint, the XC60 Concept is a daring, emotionally charged creation. Ontem finalmente coloquei as minhas mãos pela primeira vez no novo Vectra GT. Fui ao Sambódromo conhecer e experimentar a máquina com meu irmão mais novo (especialista da família em carros).
Antes de pegar no volante, passei por 4 salas com informações sobre o modelo nas quais assisti vídeos sobre o conceito, o mercado, o design - que realmente chama atenção -, itens de fábrica - como o GPS -, entre outros aspectos.
Na exposição dos modelos e das cores, adorei a inovação da cor laranja (metálica) - pena que não vai ser comercializada no Brasil - e fiquei surpresa com a informação sobre a tendência de rodas foscas de liga leve (adeus rodas cromadas).
A experiência em si foi uma atração a parte. A direção é macia, a frenagem é muito boa

- ainda mais no modo esportivo - acionado por um botão simples num painel impecável. Aliás, gostei de muitos detalhes estéticos, principalmente dos faróis dianteiros e do sensor de estacionamento. O mais engraçado ficou para a reação do meu irmão à antena tipo shark - em forma de barbatana de tubarão - à prova de furtos.
Para quem ficou com vontade, vai ter de esperar chegar às concessionárias, o que deve acontecer provavelmente no próximo mês.

The Infiniti EX37 is likely to be one of the most talked about new models launched in 2008. Powered by a new 3.7-litre version VQ family of petrol engines, EX37 brings together three different elements in one elegantly attractive package.

Its distinctive coupe-like styling masks a roomy cabin with electric fold down rear se

ats to extend the load bay and turn it into a sports estate. And then there's the raised driving position and four-wheel drive traction of an SUV to consider. It all makes EX perhaps the ultimate Crossover.
Based on the Infiniti FM platform, EX37 shares much of its hardware with both the G37 and G37 Coupe. As a result, it enjoys the same high levels of handling precision and balance as well as similar levels of performance, refinement, build quality and equipment.
Infiniti EX37 is available with a new seven-speed automatic transmission while the suspension design - double wishbone set up at the front and multi-link arrangement at the rear - delivers the ideal blend between sporting handling and superior ride comfort.
Following usual Infiniti peace of mind, Infiniti EX37 comes exceptionally well equipped as standard, while for those who want more there is a full leather version available as well as a multimedia package introducing advanced new technology to the market sector.Exterior styling
Despite its Crossover status, EX37 has been designed following traditional Coupe lines. That means a stretched wheelbase, long bonnet, short overhangs and a sharply tapering roof line. It is noticeably lower than its key rivals which helps to accentuate its low centre of gravity and lends more credence to its Crossover status.
Although longer than most of its SUV rivals - which benefits interior space - a compact overall shape help give EX37 the best aerodynamic positioning in the sector.
Above all, though, it's the balanced harmony of its lines that help EX claim a unique place in a crowded market. Its designers have skilfully blended enough signature elements - such as the double arch grille, wave form bonnet and L-shaped headlamps - to ensure it's an obvious

member of the Infiniti family. Yet the overall effect is quite unlike anything in the range.
A bold and masculine stance contrasts with the flowing curves over the high wheelarches and the dramatic slope of the roofline. The rear has a simple, almost three dimensional, appearance combining an energetic shape with elegant styling features such as the chrome door handles, LED rear lights and integrated rear spoiler.
A feeling of sophistication comes with the use of darkened privacy glass for the rear windows, the simple seven-spoke 18 inch alloy wheels and fog lamps which are set deep into the front aero bumper.Chassis and driving dynamics
Infiniti EX37 uses the second generation version of Infiniti FM platform in which the engine is located in a 'front midships' position: the compact V6 is mounted in the front of the car, but as low and as far back as possible, with most of the block behind the front axle line.
The result lowers the centre of gravity and helps to deliver the optimum front to rear weight distribution. It also permits use of a long bonnet to accentuate the classic coupe silhouette.
Suspension design uses lightweight aluminium components to reduce weight as much as possible. With a double wishbone set up at the front, a multi-link arrangement mounted on a subframe behind and an extremely rigid bodyshell, EX feels agile and surefooted with a refined ride.
With extensive use of high strength steel throughout the shell and added strengthening elements in critical parts of the structure - notably under floor crossmembers and C-pillar reinforcements - EX has exceptionally high torsional rigidity and lateral bending resistance.
As well as boosting handling, the rigid body improves refinement thanks to low levels of vibration and improved resonance.
To keep weight to a minimum, however, extensive use has been made of lightweight parts. As well as featuring in the suspension systems, aluminium is used for the EX37 bonnet, while the tailgate is resin. Were steel to be used for those elements, EX37 would be some 50kg heavier. As a result EX37 is one of the lightest cars in its class.
Ride quality is also helped by the use of advanced Dual Flow Path (DFP) dampers which reduce low speed vibration that leads to a choppy ride and which further reduce levels of body roll.
An essential element of its crossover role is the adoption of Infiniti's ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive system.
Also available on the G37, the system uses an active torque distribution management system with an active centre clutch for smooth starts, greater grip and better manoeuvrability on slippery surfaces without compromising the vehicle's rear-wheel drive performance characteristics on dry roads.
By constantly adjusting the power - sending anything from 50 per cent to the front, to up to 100 per cent to the rear - the system generates greater control without sacrificing sportiness and true performance dynamics.
Unlike permanent 4x4 systems, which deaden the steering feel and dull the driving dynamics, the electromagnetic torque transfer at the heart of ATTESA E-TS intelligent all-wheel drive's system permits an element of oversteer for a more sporting drive.
Vehicle stability is further enhanced by Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with is a standard fit. Intelligent all-wheel drive works with ESP and the limited-slip differential, constantly shifting torque as the Infiniti EX37 encounters changes in the road conditions when, within milliseconds, it will apportion power to the wheels with the most grip.
The system is most active in trickier weather conditions. As the Infiniti EX37 navigates snow, ice, or heavy rain, power is continuously apportioned to the wheel or wheels with the best traction.
Power-assisted four-wheel vented disc brakes have a four-channel, four-sensor Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). A further refinement is the availability of Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA). An integral part of Intelligent Cruise Control, when the system detects that a collision with a car in front is imminent it first warns the driver and then brakes the car itself.
The braking system is just one aspect of the Infiniti EX37 that has been tuned to meet European needs where higher average speeds mean higher deceleration requirements. A team of dedicated Infiniti engineers based at Nissan's Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) have also fine tuned suspension settings and optimised aerodynamic efficiency for greater higher speed stability.
The power steering system provides optimum steering effort at both high and low vehicle speeds.Engine and powertrain
The EX37 is powered by a new 3.7-litre version of VQ engine family. Regularly honoured in independent awards the world over, the twin cam 24 valve V6 produces over 310PS and an impressive over 350Nm of torque.
Among its many features, the lightweight aluminium engine features a bed-plate construction. A technique that has been used in motor racing for many years, the resulting two-part construction of the cylinder block is more rigid than a single piece casting. Among engine specialists, this configuration signifies a high-performance sporting engine which is uncompromisingly designed for the highest strength and reliability.
Other benefits include reduced vibration levels and higher engine speeds to be reached consistently without damage.
The VQ37 unit also features V-VEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) technology to optimise efficiency and, in turn, the balance between power, response, fuel efficiency and emissions.
V-VEL continually alters valve lift and therefore the quantity of air in the combustion chamber. At partial throttle - in stop-go city traffic, for example - it will make a small lift thus achieving a more precise fuel/air mix with lower quantities of both to improve fuel consumption. At full throttle, the valve lift is greater, inducting a larger quantity of air into the combustion chamber.
The result is a more powerful combustion phase increasing torque and power… while the increase in power is balanced by more efficient combustion to the benefit of fuel economy.
Precise mapping of the ECU, meanwhile, helps the engine provide a progressive 'swell' of power and torque, providing a 'building wave' of acceleration rather than a peaky power delivery.
Infiniti EX37 will be available with a new seven-speed automatic option with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC).
With its additional forward gear, the new automatic transmission has a wider spread of ratios which benefits both fuel consumption and drivability. The seventh speed is effectively an overdrive ratio, returning improved fuel economy on a steady throttle without compromising in-gear flexibility for overtaking.
Shift points are tuned to keep the engine in the largest part of the torque curve, ensuring there is always a healthy reserve when the driver wants to overtake. The linked ASC system switches between three different programs depending on input from the major control systems throughout the car. The seven-speed automatic transmission also features a manual mode with blip control to enhance the driver's driving pleasure.Interior environment
Inside EX37 is an environment designed to appeal to driver and passengers alike. Quality materials provide the warmth and comfort expected in a luxury saloon, yet the driver's quarters have a 'scooped-out' design to emphasise the concept of a cockpit in direct contrast to the open, spacious design of the passenger area.
Uniquely in its class, Infiniti EX37 eases the loading and unloading of luggage with electric fold down rear seats. Each portion of the split folding backrest can be lowered simply by pulling a lever in the rear of the trunk area.
And even more easily, the backrest can raised electrically by pressing a button on the centre console. Load space is enhanced by a 45-litre underfloor storage compartment. This area is reduced if the Bose premium sound system is specified or the vehicle is equipped with a spare wheel in place of the standard inflation kit.Standard and optional equipment
Infiniti EX37 offers a full complement of standard equipment and features the Infiniti I-Key with smart access. As soon as the vehicle identifies a pre-programmed I-Key in the vicinity, the door can be opened and the car started without the key needing to leave a pocket or handbag.
Also standard are privacy glass, a six-disc, seven speaker CD audio system, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, cruise control, power seats, auto-dimming rear view mirror, front and rear parking sensors, automatic lights and wipers, 18-inch alloy wheels, six airbags (featuring thorax and pelvis protection) and integrated fog lamps. The leather trimmed steering wheel incorporates controls for the audio system, cruise control and telephone.
Unique to Infiniti is the use of "Scratch Shield" paint. A special highly elastic resin has been combined with a conventional clearcoat to increase the paint's flexibility.
A car painted with "Scratch Shield" paint can exhibit up to five times fewer scratches that a conventional clearcoat when exposed to the same conditions. When exposed to heat, "Scratch Shield" paint repairs fine scratches, restoring painted surfaces close to their original state.
Optional on EX37 are a full leather version (offering leather heated seats, power passenger seat) and a Multimedia pack (with satellite navigation, a rear view parking camera, voice recognition and Bose Premium sound). A unique feature in the full leather version is the extendable jacket hanger integrated into the back of the driver head rest. Also, this version allows personal settings for the driver's seat, steering wheel and exterior mirrors to be programmed into the key so that the key holder won't have to reposition anything if the car has been driven by anyone else.
The Bose sound system is custom-engineered specifically for the EX37 to help reproduce music with clarity and spaciousness. Because it's designed to work together with the EX37's unique cabin acoustics, the Bose system delivers a level of music reproduction that approaches that of a live concert.
Also available are an adaptive front-light system (AFS) and Intelligent Cruise Control operating in "Full Speed Range". In AFS, the xenon headlamps are linked to steering inputs and automatically follow the path of the front wheels to provide a wide spread of light around corners and on winding roads. ICC uses brake, throttle and laser sensors to help maintain a set distance between EX37 and the car in front. The software allows ICC to work from 0km/h thanks to the "Full Speed Range" feature.
But it is the final option that really lifts EX above its rivals. The Around View Monitor uses small cameras mounted at the front, rear and on the sides of EX37 to project an all-round view of potential obstacles on every side of the vehicle. A natural extension of Infiniti's rear view parking camera, the Around View Monitor uses the colour sat nav monitor to display a bird's eye view of the car as it parks, enabling the driver to negotiate a tight parking spot with mishap

Ford Fusion 2008



Ford today announced that for 2008, the Ford Fusion will get a Sport Appearance Package option that gives it a more aggressive look inside out. The Sport Appearance package will be available for the SE and SEL models.
Exterior enhancements include 18-inch aluminum wheels, body-color fog-
lamp surrounds and a unique rear lip spoiler. Fusion’s three-bar over two-bar grille also gets a smoky “black chrome” look.
On the inside the package gives the Fusion charcoal black trim with red stitching. Aluminum trims also shape out the radio and radio controls. For the seats, customers can choose from the special red-splashed cloth seat inserts or red leather inlays on the optional leather seats.

Pagani Zonda F



The custom-built Pagani Zonda F is constructed using the skills and expertise of craftsmen and the most advanced technology available. Its principal construction materials are carbon fibre, aluminium alloys, avional, chrome-molybdenum alloy, titanium and leathers. The concept behind the Zonda F was to develop a vehicle which was lightweight, safe and individual, offering superlative performance. Comparisons can be drawn between the racing inspiration behind the Zonda F and that of the 1960’s Miura.

Design
A curved sharp edged line starts at the very front, flowing through the middle section, slightly bending down after the A pillar and then rising up again at the rear wheel arches to follow its way back until the diffuser.
The same curve language is also applied to the greenhouse and the design of the windows.
The front has an aggressive look with the traditional Audi grille. The air intakes are shaped like the headlights to create a coherent feeling.
The rear section is very organic with defined curves and subtle details, tail lights are designed to have integrated air outtakes underneath them to avoid any unnecessary details.
The sleek design of the rear volume is defined by the dual exhaust tail pipes located at the very sides and by the dark surfaces of the diffuser.
